Where Did You Wear Your Toucan Wines Hat? We recently asked that exact question and we've started to get some pictures - This 
is a picture of Jim, a Toucan Wines customer, earlier this month in Colle di Val d'Elsa, Italia--about 40 miles south of Florence. There he bought a bottle of Colombaia---Chianti Colli Senesi D.O.C.G. for his cellar.
Send us your picture of you wearing your Toucan Wines Hat and we'll make a big deal about it! New Toucan Wines hats come only in raspberry (no longer in green) and a fresh batch will be available on the Toucan Wines web site next week.
In the winery... this month I racked the 08' Estate Zinfandel and the 08' Toucan Wines Carignane from the 120 year old Evangelho vineyard to the barrel room. All the wines are now safely stored in the temperature controlled barrel room for the summer (see the barrel room picture at right). Next in the
winery will be the bottling of our first Toucanet release, a port styled wine that will have had 22 months of barrel age. This wine will be released in early fall. Here is a picture of the traditional port bottles awaiting the Toucanet bottling.
In the Toucan Vineyard... we finished hoeing the vineyard rows and now I'm suckering the unwanted growth on each vine. This process takes me about 3 weeks and about 5 days from being finished. Next for the vineyard will be tying the shoots as needed and gopher extreme trapping.
In other news... we have several events still scheduled as you can see from the list on the left. This weekend is big - we have an event in Newport Beach and at the same time our wines will be poured at Lund's this weekend both Saturday by Terrie and Sunday by me. Both days, Terrie is offering special pricing, and a wide selection, on barrel stave candle holders -- during the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival. Come on over and pick one up for yourself and one as a gift!
In June, I'm headed to New York, New Jersey and Virginia to visit prospective resellers of our wines. I look forward to sharing our story and wines with those folks.
